Hello! My name is Chandra Septian. I reckon myself as a multipotentialite. Apart from that, I am an Arsenal FC fan. I am an international relations student.

I’m doing the labor of love to run a blog called The Odyssey of Chandra Septian which covers topics in international politics, climate diplomacy, and democracy.

There is no escaping my perpetual curiosity.

It drives me to the recent projects on my blog. As an avid reader of human progress issues, I translated the works of Jared Diamond, Daron Acemoglu, Yuval Harari, etc on 1) Translated Writing. I also write some short-form writing including 2) weekly assorted links on Dari yang Saya Baca, and 3) documenting personal photo projects on Photo Essay.

As I said before, I’m a multipotentiale, my research interests are wide-ranging and eclectic, but most of it falls within two major tracks —one on non-traditional security studies, especially how developing countries deal with climate change, and the other on the strategy and politics of US foreign policy, especially the way the US promoted democracy across the globe.

I’m also a self-taught photographer of documentaries and travel. I Work throughout Indonesia, photographing for personal projects. I began taking photographs at the age of seventeen and started photographing as a way to better understand the human condition, culture and tell their stories.

I worked as an intern for startup LindungiHutan in 2020; organizing a global climate strike with 350.org Indonesia and Fossil Free Bandung to deliver kick-ass campaigns on climate change in Bandung, Indonesia in 2019; representing my uni in the Kompetisi Debat Mahasiswa Indonesia (KDMI) Wilayah IV, a national debate competition in 2019; received a workshop training on climate change campaign and advocacy in Bali, Indonesia with 350.org Indonesia in 2019; won #IniTanahKita photo competition organized by World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia for his photo essay on the indigenous people of Kampong Naga and overlapping land use in Indonesia in 2019; and write a book chapter on how my generation contribute to adapt and mitigate climate change in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann-Stiftung untuk Kebebasan (FnF) Indonesia, Climate Institute Indonesia, and Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

In my spare time, I spent a good weekend live-tweeting football —of course, it is Arsenal— and badminton matches. Besides that, I curate articles which provide insightful content and binge-watching my endless film list on letterboxd account.

I can contribute to improving the products of your media companies. Check out my portfolio on writing↗ and photojournalism↗.
